These dessert cups are reproduced from eighteenth century designs from the Pont aux Choux factory, one of the first important French faience factories. The factory was originally established during the last years of the ancient regime of Louis XVI, to produce the delicate creamware or white soft paste designs in fashion at the time. Like the originals, these pure white cups are made of pottery rather than hard paste porcelain and are decorated with a delicate rosebud and leaf finial. The original cups of this design come from the collection of the Musee Des Arts Decoratifs in Paris, France.
